Found a B7300 for sale. 4 wheel drive. Looks in very good condition with turf tires. No one was around for me to ask what year it was. The information I collected from data plate follows: Model B7300HSD Serial # 18113 Engine# XE2907. It has 247 hrs. Can anyone tell me what year model this is? Is it coded in the serial # ? What is the value of this tractor? (No mower or implements)

Year usually isn't as important as hours in deciding about a purchase, but year and even month, day of week and production-shift often can be found in serial number info. On the other hand, some models have had significant upgrades during their production, so checking year isn't a bad idea. Scanning a parts manual would indicate major changes that occurred but most parts guys know if you ask.

Tractortips.com has serial number info as part of its tractor specs database. There may be other sources as well.

My book doesn't show the year but they were introduced in 97'. They were not the most popular tractor as they do not have power steering and at that size in this area over 70% are with a loader and or belly mower or a mower of one sort or another. ....
